DW Faculty Gets Young Students Excited about Coding

Digital Worlds faculty, Ben DeVane, introduces the Game Creator’s Guild to students at P.K. Young Middle School. Utilizing Microsoft Research’s Kodu Game Lab, students will be able to structure game levels and design gaming environments by learning programming methods like algorithms, events and conditional statements. The project started on March 11 and will continue until May.

Former DW Student Combines Theatre and Digital Arts

Brittany Merenda, a 2011 graduate of Digital Worlds Institute, has always had a passion for theatre and digital media. Recently, she has combined these two passions into an innovative and lucrative career path that has allowed her to use her skills in digital media design and projections in a wide array of theatrical productions.

Patrick Pagano Gives SETC Master Class

Patrick Pagano, DW Assistant in Digital Arts and Sciences, was invited back to present at the Southeastern Theater Conference in March in Louisville, KY. The class covered multiple aspects of projection design and its usage.

New VOICE for Online Distributed Education

Digital Worlds faculty, Angelos Barmpoutis, is leading the development of a Kinesthetic Three-Dimensional toolset (K3D) that allows students to come together online with 3D avatars in a Virtual Online Interactive Classroom Environment (VOICE).

DW Alumna Thrives in Journalism Doctoral Program

After receiving her MA in DAS degree, Elaine Sponholtz entered the PhD program at the UF College of Journalism and Communications. In March, she will be presenting her award-winning paper at the AEJMC Southeastern Colloquium.
